CENTRAL PUJA COMMITTEE
Serving Since 1995
A Legacy of Compassion and Community Service
"They alone live who live for others; the rest are more dead than alive."
~ Swami vivekananda
Since its establishment in 1995, CPC Garo Hills has been dedicated to coordinating with DPCs in Tura town, Rongram, and Garo Hills as a whole. In alignment with 10 Zonal CPC units and religious institutions across Garo Hills, CPC has actively engaged with 124 DPCs in Garo Hills, with 75 in West Garo Hills alone.
Annually, CPC Garo Hills undertakes philanthropic initiatives, distributing new clothes to the needy on the eve of the Durga Puja festival.
On Republic Day, our commitment reaches the extreme border, where we share the National Day with the BSF jawans guarding our borders 24/7 in Mankachar, Mahendraganj, Dalu, Baghmara, etc.
During the complete lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, CPC Garo Hills provided essential foodstuffs to 153 families in Tura town and Rongram. Food packets were distributed to health workers at different health centers in Tura and on-duty traffic police personnel.
In June 2022, amidst road communication disruption in some parts of South Garo Hills due to incessant rain causing a shortage of food items, CPC members faced hardships to deliver food items and clothes to the people of Maheshkhola and Siju. In July of the same year, a donation was made to RKM, Sohra, for providing relief materials in Khasi and Jaintia Hills. Our collaboration with various religious organizations fosters brotherhood among Tura people.
On 19th December 2023, acknowledging the dedication of field workers, the Central Puja Committee generously gifted cozy shawls to them, spreading warmth and comfort this winter. Tura Municipal Board celebrated a heartwarming Pre-Christmas event where gifts of Shawls, etc., ensured a cozy winter for those who make a difference every day. This year, a memento was presented to the CEO of TMB in acknowledgment of her and her staff’s unwavering dedication to ensuring cleanliness day and night.
CPC members extended their benevolence to Children’s Homes for Boys and Girls, providing school bags and study materials. Witnessing the profound situations of these children, the well-maintained Homes showcased a positive environment. A memento was handed over to the In-charge of Homes, symbolizing our appreciation for their tireless efforts.
Every year, on the 2nd of October, in commemoration of Gandhi Jayanti, CPC organizes a cleaning drive.
In conclusion, CPC stands as a beacon of compassion, unity, and positive change within the Garo Hills community. CPC remains not just an organization but a catalyst for positive change, a source of inspiration, and a symbol of selfless service, weaving a tapestry of compassion and community spirit that resonates throughout Garo Hills.
