Celebrate Culture, Embrace Tradition

Exhibition cum Food Festival (UPCOMING)

The Exhibition cum Food Festival is a vibrant celebration of local culture, arts, and culinary diversity organized by CPC Garo Hills. This event provides a unique platform for local artisans to showcase their crafts and for food enthusiasts to indulge in a variety of regional delicacies. The festival is designed to foster community engagement by bringing together people from all walks of life to appreciate the rich heritage of Garo Hills. Through this event, we aim to support local artisans and promote cultural unity, ensuring that our traditions continue to thrive and inspire future generations.

Support to Children's Homes

Date: Ongoing

CPC Garo Hills is deeply committed to supporting the education and well-being of children residing in Boys’ and Girls’ Homes across the region. Throughout the year, we provide school bags, study materials, and other essentials to these children, ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed in their studies. Our visits to these Homes reveal the positive environment fostered by the caregivers, and we are proud to contribute to their efforts. Each year, a memento is presented to the In-charge of these Homes as a symbol of our appreciation for their tireless work in nurturing the future of our community.

Durga Puja Philanthropy

Date: Annually during Durga Puja Festival

Each year, CPC Garo Hills undertakes the noble initiative of distributing new clothes to underprivileged members of the community during the Durga Puja festival. This annual event is more than just an act of charity; it is a celebration of the festival’s spirit of giving and compassion. By ensuring that everyone, regardless of their financial situation, can partake in the joy of Durga Puja, we foster a sense of belonging and togetherness within the community.

Republic Day Celebration

Date: 26th January

On Republic Day, CPC Garo Hills extends its gratitude to the brave BSF jawans who guard our nation’s borders with unwavering dedication. Our team travels to remote border areas such as Mankachar, Mahendraganj, Dalu, and Baghmara to share in the national pride and honor the soldiers’ sacrifices. This event is a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility to support those who safeguard our freedom, and it strengthens the bond between the civilian population and the armed forces.

Covid-19 Relief Efforts

Date: March 2020 – May 2021

In response to the unprecedented challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, CPC Garo Hills stepped up to provide vital support to the community. During the lockdown, we distributed essential food supplies to 153 families in Tura town and Rongram, ensuring that no one went hungry. Additionally, we provided food packets to health workers at various health centers and on-duty traffic police personnel, recognizing their crucial role in maintaining public health and safety. Our Covid-19 relief efforts exemplify our commitment to standing by the community in times of crisis and ensuring that no one is left behind.

Monsoon Relief Drive

Date: June – July 2022

The monsoon season of 2022 brought severe challenges to parts of South Garo Hills, where incessant rain caused road disruptions and shortages of essential supplies. In response, CPC members undertook a difficult journey to deliver food items and clothing to the affected people of Maheshkhola and Siju, demonstrating resilience and dedication in the face of adversity. In July, we also partnered with RKM, Sohra, to provide relief materials in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills, showcasing our commitment to extending help beyond our immediate community and fostering regional solidarity.

Winter Warmth Campaign

Date: 19th December 2023

As the winter chill set in, CPC Garo Hills launched the Winter Warmth Campaign to bring comfort to those who work tirelessly for the betterment of our community. On 19th December 2023, during a Pre-Christmas event organized in collaboration with the Tura Municipal Board, we distributed cozy shawls to field workers, health personnel, and others who contribute to the cleanliness and upkeep of our town. This act of kindness not only provided physical warmth but also expressed our heartfelt appreciation for their continued efforts. A memento was also presented to the CEO of TMB, recognizing her and her team’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the town’s cleanliness day and night.

Gandhi Jayanti Cleaning Drive

Date: 2nd October, Annually

In honor of Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy of cleanliness and community service, CPC Garo Hills organizes an annual cleaning drive on Gandhi Jayanti. This event sees members of our organization, along with local volunteers, come together to clean public spaces, roads, and areas in need of upkeep. The cleaning drive is not only a tribute to Gandhi’s ideals but also a practical step towards maintaining a healthy and clean environment for the residents of Garo Hills. Through this initiative, we instill the values of cleanliness and responsibility in the community, ensuring that Gandhi’s message continues to inspire future generations.
